TheCyberProtector Removal [Explained]

What is TheCyberProtector

TheCyberProtector is a system optimizer and computer security program, though it’s classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) by a couple of anti-virus programs. It’s not a dangerous program, nor will it harm your computer. However, its usefulness may be debatable. It should be mentioned that it’s not a free program, though it will allow you to scan the computer for issues with the free version. To fix those said issues, you’d need to purchase the full version. This may be one of the reasons why the program is classified as a PUP.

TheCyberProtector

System optimization tools that allow to scan for free but don’t let you fix the detected issues are often quite suspicious. Many fake optimizers show users fake scan results in order to encourage them to purchase the full version. So if you scan your computer with TheCyberProtector and it’s showing scan results with a lot of issues, you should be very skeptical. Check everything that has been detected and whether it’s likely that the issues are legitimate.

If you’re not planning on buying the full version of the program, you don’t have much use of it. You should be able to delete TheCyberProtector manually without problems , but you can also use Avast, AVG and ESET, as those programs detect them.

The program may be promoted by fake security alerts

Programs that are classified as PUPs often use software bundling to install on users computers. If you don’t remember installing TheCyberProtector but it’s suddenly on your computer, software bundling may be why. It may have come attached to a free program as an extra offer, and you did not notice when installing it. If something is attached to the program you are installing, it would install alongside automatically, unless you manually prevent it from doing so. To do that, choose Advanced (Custom) settings when installing programs. Those settings will not only display everything that has been added but will also allow you to deselect it/them. Simply uncheck the boxes of those offers and you can then continue the installation.

It’s also possible that the program was advertised in those fake alerts that claim there is something wrong with your computer. Those bogus alerts usually appear when users are visiting questionable websites and claim that a virus/issue is present on the computer. They pressure users into downloading the program they’re offering to supposedly fix the issues. So if you can recall seeing one of these alerts and that’s how you downloaded TheCyberProtector, keeping it is not recommended.

The program also has an official website, so you could have downloaded it yourself, thinking it would help clean and protect your computer. However, exploring the site doesn’t inspire confidence that it’s a useful program, as even the Terms of Service and Privacy Policies are very lacking and do not provide any reliable information. Next time you should look into the program you want to install very carefully in order to avoid installing some questionable one.

Should you remove TheCyberProtector

The official website claims that the program is able to solve all kinds of computer issues, whether it’s related to speed/performance, viruses, crashes, blue screens, errors, etc. It’s essentially advertised as an all-in-one program. However, many programs claim to be able to do that, and in most cases, it’s just words. Mostly, these programs claim that removing a few older files and cleaning the registry can have a significant impact on the computer. However, that is simply not true. So when it comes to programs that promise to speed up your computer, you should be very skeptical.

If you do a scan of your computer with TheCyberProtector, check the results very carefully. In many cases, similar programs show fake results to encourage users to buy the full version. If TheCyberProtector does detect something, you will be asked to purchase the full program to fix those issues. The full program costs $50/year/1 PC. This is a lot of money, especially for a program that has no reviews and barely any presence on the Internet. We don’t recommend buying it.
