RocketFixio is a potentially unwanted program
RocketFixio is advertised as a system optimization tool but is classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) due to its behaviour. It claims to offer various features that will supposedly help speed up your computer but in reality it will barely do anything. There’s many similar programs and the reason they are usually classified as PUPs is because they show users fake scan results in order to pressure users into buying the full versions of programs. The issues detected by such programs cannot be removed with the free version so users would need to purchase the full version. However, since the detected issues are mostly nonexistent or exaggerated, there is no reason to buy the full program.
In addition to it showing you potentially fake results, the program also uses software bundling to install. You likely do not even recall installing it. If it came attached to a free program you installed, you would not have even noticed. Attaching additional programs to free software is what’s called software bundling. Because it allows programs to install essentially without users’ permission, programs that use it to install are generally classified as potential threats.
We do not recommend buying the program, nor keeping it. You can do the majority of things it offers manually, so there is no need for a system optimizer. You should delete RocketFixio.
How did RocketFixio install
One of the criteria for being classified as a PUP is using software bundling to install. It’s a questionable method that allows programs to install sneakily, hence why it’s popular among unwanted program developers. Basically, PUPs come attached to free software as extra offers and are preselected to install alongside, unless users manually prevent them from doing so. But because the offers are usually hidden, users are unable to deselect them in most cases.
If you want to be able to deselect the offers, you first need to make them visible. To do that, opt for Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default during the installation. Unlike Default, Advanced settings will not only make all added offers visible but also allow you to deselect them. All you need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers, and may then continue installing the program.
It’s possible that you installed the program yourself knowingly, thinking it will somehow help maintain your computer. However, if that is the case, we recommend you research programs before installing them in the future. This will prevent you from installing junk programs and cluttering your computer.
Should you remove RocketFixio
We should first mention that RocketFixio is not a dangerous program. It will not purposely harm your device but it’s also not a particularly useful program either. It’s a system optimizer that claims to delete junk files, fix registry errors, and fix other computer issues. As soon as it installs, it will start alerting you about detected issues on your computer. The scan results may show hundreds, if not thousands of issues. Do not blindly trust the scan results because program like RocketFixio tend to exaggerate or make up issues to encourage users to buy the full version. Without purchasing the program, you would be unable to fix anything that has been detected.
Keep in mind that system optimizers are rarely useful. While they claim they will make your computer run like new, they barely do anything. They could also end up causing harm. RocketFixio has a registry cleaning feature, which means it will access the registry and potentially delete certain entries it deems no longer necessary. However, the thing about the registry is that deleting the wrong entry could have very serious consequences. Microsoft has warned users about using registry cleaners because it could result in needing to reinstall Windows.
If you have decided to uninstall RocketFixio, you can do it manually or use anti-spyware software. Certain security programs like BitDefender, McAfee, Avira and Kaspersky will detect it as a potential threat and get rid of it for you. This is the recommended method if you do not have much experience with uninstalling programs and are not sure about where to begin. If you try to remove RocketFixio manually, make sure all related files are gone and the program cannot recover itself.
