Remove Courselfan Redirect [Explained]

What is Courselfan

Courselfan is a highly questionable website that tries to get you to agree to notifications. It’s essentially a social engineering attack that will try to trick you into agreeing to see more ads. When you visit the Courselfan.pro website, an alert pops up, asking users to allow the site to show notifications. If users press “Allow”, they are agreeing to seeing ads. It’s a fairly common scam but it’s fortunately easily removable if users do allow those notifications. Users can also protect themselves from these scams in particular by changing browser’s settings to block these alerts asking to show notifications.

Courselfan

It’s unlikely that you accidentally stumbled upon this website. You were redirected, either by adware on your computer, or a site you were visiting. If it’s the former, you’ll need to get rid of the adware to remove Courselfan redirects. However, if you were redirected by a site, as long as you have adblocker enabled, you should be able to prevent redirects to sites like Courselfan.pro. Carry on reading to learn how adware installed in the first place and how you can prevent this from happening in the future.

Why are you redirected to Courselfan

When it comes to these kinds of redirects, it’s usually adware that’s at fault. However, it’s also possible that a questionable website you were visiting redirected you. You may have clicked on something, like an ad, and that triggered the redirect. This usually happens if you visit free streaming sites, adult entertainment and online betting pages. When browsing such sites, it’s recommended to have adblock enabled to prevent the redirects and pop-ups.

Adware installed on your computer is the likely reason behind these redirects. Adware is a rather sneaky infection that installs via freeware bundles without users even noticing. Adware, browser hijackers and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) often come attached to free software as extra offers. They are set to install alongside the freeware and are purposely hidden from users. Most users don’t pay enough attention to notice them, which is why these kinds of infections are quite common.

When installing free programs in the future, pay attention and follow the installation process carefully. When given the option, make sure you opt for Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default. Advanced settings will make all extra offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. Literally all you need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers. You can then continue installing the program.

Is pressing “Allow” harmful?

When you get redirected to Courselfan.pro, an alert will pop up, asking you to allow Courselfan to show you notifications. The site itself will display a message saying “Please tap the Allow button to continue”. When you get redirected to a site that does this, the best course of action would be to close the tab altogether. Do not engage with it and certainly do not press “Allow”. If you do agree to these notifications, you will start seeing ads as notifications. Some of those ads will be purposely made to appear like legitimate notifications. They could be falsely warning you about supposed infections on your computer and suggest you download some questionable program.

Pressing “Allow” means you’ll start seeing more ads in your browser. But fortunately, revoking this permission to show notifications is easy and you can do it anytime.

Courselfan removal

If your computer is infected with adware, you will need to get rid of it to delete Courselfan redirects. We suggest using anti-spyware software to do that. You will also need to revoke the permission the site has to show you notification.

  • For Mozilla Firefox: Open menu (the three bars top-right corner) -> Options -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Permissions, press on Settings next to Notifications, and remove Courselfan. You can actually permanently turn off these notification requests by checking the “Block new requests asking to allow notifications” box in the same Notifications settings.
  • For Google Chrome: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site Settings. Click on Notifications under Permissions, and remove Courselfan. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.
