Allsearch App – How to remove
What is Allsearch App
Allsearch App is a browser hijacker that will redirect your search queries. If you notice that whenever you perform a search it gets redirected through tailsearch.com, you have the Allsearch App browser hijacker installed. It’s not a serious infection, nor it is particularly harmful directly. However, hijackers alter search results in order to redirect to users to sponsored websites. So if this hijacker is installed on your computer, you are likely seeing altered search results. Those sponsored websites will not necessarily be safe, so while hijackers themselves aren’t particularly dangerous, the same cannot be said about the redirects. You could easily be redirected to unsafe sites, which could be hiding malware or promoting scams.
Users install hijackers themselves, though they usually do it unknowingly. Infections like hijackers, adware and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) use a method called software bundling to install on users’ computers without them even noticing. If users don’t pay attention to how they install free programs, they will fail to notice that something may be attached to it. And unfortunately, users rarely pay attention to how they install programs.
While the hijacker will not harm your computer, there is no reason to keep it installed as it will only hinder your browsing. You can use anti-spyware software to delete Allsearch App.
How do hijackers install?
Browser hijackers and similar infections like adware take advantage of the fact that users often don’t pay attention to how they install free programs. They use the software bundling method, which allows them to be attached to free software as additional offers. The offers are set to install alongside the freeware automatically, but they are optional. The problem is that the offers are also hidden, which prevents users not paying attention from noticing them.
If you want to correctly install freeware, you need to opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. All you really need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers. Once you have done that, you can continue to install the program.
If you don’t pay attention to how you install programs, your computer will become filled with junk in no time. And those junk programs can be difficult to get rid of manually, as they are pretty persistent. Preventing their installation from the very beginning is much easier.
Is Allsearch App dangerous?
As soon as the hijacker installs, you will notice that your search queries will go through tailsearch.com. Some hijackers also change other browser’s settings, such as homepage and new tabs. Whatever the hijacker changes will be irreversible while the hijacker remains installed. The hijacker can also affect all popular browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
A hijacker’s main intention is to redirect users to sponsored websites. It can do that by altering search results to include links to sponsored sites. Those sponsored results usually have little to do with what users were searching for but may appear useful at first.
When you perform a search via your browser’s address bar while the Allsearch App hijacker is installed, you will be redirected to tailsearch.com first and then to Google. There is no reason to go through some questionable website just to access Google, so do not put up with this as it will only disrupt your regular browsing.
Another thing that should be mentioned about hijackers is that they track you. They will record what you search for, what sites you visit, what content you engage with, your IP address, etc. The information is often shared with unknown third-parties.
